Chicago churches are offering an $11,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the murderer of 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee.

“Whoever did this, there is a special place for them”, he said.
“That gang just signed its own death warrant”, he said.
A Chicago man has been charged with first-degree murder in the suspected gangland shooting of a nine-year-old boy, in an attack that shocked the US.
Police had questioned Corey Morgan, 27, two days after Tyshawn’s killing but released him.

That wasn’t the case surrounding Tyshawn’s shooting, however, with McCarthy lauding those who did come forward to help with the case.
Prosecutors alleged that Morgan had vowed to “kill grandmas, mamas, kids and all” after his brother and mother were shot. He said that Morgan had at least two other accomplices. McCarthy did not specify what role Morgan played in the slaying, but police believe there was only one gunman.
McCarthy said Tyshawn, a fourth-grader, was in a park November 2 playing basketball with his friends.
“This murder was committed in a cold, calculated and premeditated manner”, Canellis said.
Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas lambasted Morgan for “hunting every day with a firearm week in retaliation”.
“There is nothing this court can do”. A third gang member, whom McCarthy would not identify by name, is also in custody on an unrelated charge, he said. Edwards is believed to be in the area, McCarthy said.

The Tribune said the South Side has seen a steep rise in homicides recently, but Lee’s death had captivated the city, “prickling the conscience” of locals.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi announced the arrest on Twitter early Friday, but released no other details. “Their spirit never wavered”, McCarthy said, also praising the community for stepping up.
The status of the case was not clear.
All three men are members of the same gang, McCarthy said. Members of each gang were shot and killed last month.

Authorities said the child was executed in retaliation for his father’s gang ties in an ongoing fight between rival gangs.
