The Prince William County Police Association has created an account for anyone that wishes to donate money to the family in Guindon’s memory.
A long line of officers in dress uniforms stretched around Hylton Memorial Chapel in Woodbridge for the funeral of Prince William County Officer Ashley Guindon.
Hamilton did not enter a plea and was held without bond until the trial.
In court today, the accused killer showed no emotion.
Officers received a call around 5:30 Saturday evening in Woodbridge, about 30 miles southwest of the nation’s capital, about a “verbal argument”, Sgt. Jonathan Perok, spokesman of the Prince William County Police Department, said.
“It is a sad day for everyone in this room, A sad day for law enforcement”, Prince William County police Chief Stephan Hudson said at a Sunday press conference. The police department draped black bunting over the police auto and the station house.
At least three of the fatal police shootings this year – including the death of Officer Guindon – stemmed from domestic violence calls, and two occurred while officers attempted to serve warrants, according to media reports.
The officer, Ashley Guindon, had been sworn in on Friday afternoon.
Guindon was one of three officers responding Saturday afternoon to the home of Ronald Hamilton, 32, a staff sergeant with the U.S. Army. Hamilton surrendered when additional officers arrived. Police recovered two guns from the scene: a handgun and a rifle.
Army Staff Sergeant Ronald Williams Hamilton allegedly shot the officers when they approached the front door of his single-family home in the town of Woodbridge.
An unidentified 11-year-old was found unharmed in the house at the center of the shooting on Saturday, according to the release.
Ronald Hamilton is due back in court in mid-April. He appeared via video from the county jail, an orange jumpsuit covering his 6-foot-2, 260-pound frame.
Charging documents also said Hamilton admitted to police after he was taken into custody that he shot the officers and his wife. Hamilton’s attorney could not be immediately reached for comment.
“I just wanted to say thank you”.
Ebert has been the county’s top prosecutor for 48 years and has handled numerous high-profile cases, including Beltway sniper John Allen Muhammad.
Police associations say there is a real fear that anti-police rhetoric is translating to real world consequences.

“It’s taken a toll on everybody. There are very few dry eyes in that department”. Ebert declined to discuss the nature of the conviction. “She was responding to a domestic situation where there were shots fired and the husband murdered his wife”, read the post.
