The victim is believed to have been a night support worker at the three-storey assisted living home, which has been run by the charity London Cyrenians Housing since 1996.

A post-mortem examination will happen in due course, police said.

This evening, they say Michael Meanza was arrested this afternoon, Monday, 27 July in the Ealing area.

London Ambulance Service pronounced the woman dead at the scene and a post mortem yesterday showed she died of a head injury.

He suffers from schizophrenia and requires regular medication which it is believed he does not have with him.

Police are advising the public not to approach him but call 999 as he could pose a danger.

The investigation is being led by Detective Chief Inspector Andy Partridge, Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC).

An urgent search was then called to trace Meanza, who was finally arrested later the same day.
