Man City beats Sunderland 4-1; Kompany lasts 9 minutes
Manchester City bounced back from their defeat at Arsenal with a comfortable victory over Sunderland – but their joy was tempered by another injury to Vincent Kompany.

After being beaten by Arsenal on Monday night and slipping six points off the top of the Premier League table, Manchester City had a much better day on Saturday as they hammered Sunderland 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
Allardyce added: “Certainly what we saw today for nine minutes was just, I couldn’t believe my eyes”.
Dismissing the need to buy another defender, or other players, in the January transfer window, Pellegrini said: “We are trying to find the reason why he has so many injuries in his calf”.
Pellegrini believed Kompany was ready when he sent him on to replace Nicolas Otamendi as a substitute in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Sunderland.
Fernando and Pablo Zabaleta also missed the Emirates match and will undergo tests. By and large, results have been a whole lot better at the Etihad Stadium, but their lack of consistency is such that they are now six points behind surprise leaders Leicester City, so they need to put a run together quickly in order to live up to their status as title favourites.
“This team is better with Vincent than without him”, he said.
When Toure was then allowed to effortlessly stroll forward, turn onto his left foot and fire low into the bottom corner of the net only five minutes later, the situation was already beginning to look dire for Sunderland.
“He’s very important. That doesn’t mean we have to think that with Vincent we’re not going to make any mistakes, and without him we can not win”.
– Leicester City lost both of their league meetings with Man City last season, but they’ve not lost three successive league games against Man City since August 1961. “My body feels invincible – the best it’s ever been – but I’m challenged by a number of small and local injuries”, the City defender posted on his official Facebook page. That’s 10 goals and 11 assists for the Belgian since signing for City in the summer-a remarkable record and a sign of his effectiveness.
It got worse for Sunderland when Wilfried Bony headed home, before a fourth arrived from the excellent De Bruyne early in the second half, as City continually took advantage of some terrible defending from the visitors. When De Bruyne’s attempted pass for Bony came back to him off a sliding interception from Sebastian Coates, the man of the match calmly slotted the ball home from 12 yards. Bony could even afford to hoof a penalty over the bar.
