Man City cruise into Champions League last-16

Sevilla coach Unai Emery feels his side have little margin for error as they face the attacking power of Manchester City again.

Former Villarreal, Real Madrid and Malaga boss Pellegrini knows all about La Liga’s Sevilla, who put on a show to beat champions Barcelona 2-1 at home last month.

In Turin, they can take the same approach as they did against Sevilla, knowing the onus is on the home side to win.

A strong start for City leading 2-0 after 11 minutes provided one of the most completed club performance in Champions League.

Three minutes later Fernandinho doubled the visitors advantage with a header, and though Sevilla pulled a goal back through Benoit Tremoulinas’, Wilfried Bony made it 3-1 on 36 minutes.

“They were one of the teams we were supposedly going to struggle against in this group, but that’s two wins (against them) now, we’re top of the group and we’re looking to try and win it”.

City’s fans are frustrated with UEFA over the organisation’s decision to play a Champions League match against CSKA Moscow behind closed doors a year ago because of a series of offences, including racial abuse, from the Russian club’s fans.

“The team changed in the way we were playing – I changed the system because I was not happy in the way we were playing”, Pellegrini told BT Sport.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini changed his team’s shape by leaving out De Bruyne in order to feature Fernando, Fernandinho and Toure together in midfield, and enjoyed the results after revealing he had not been impressed with a few of City’s recent displays.

Although they have done well in the Premier League, their form in Europe has been poor.

“We don’t really look to make big statements – we look to win our games and build on what we’re doing”.

“It’s a benefit if you can qualify as soon as you can – as it’s not easy to do it with two games remaining”. “It’s probably the best performance we have had in the Champions League so far”. We defended well too and dominated possession.

“We just want to finish top because that would be a great achievement”, said the Blues’ England global goalkeeper.
