Manuel Pellegrini is not expecting any new signings at Manchester City in January despite Vincent Kompany’s ongoing injury.
Manchester City skipper Kompany – who has started just eight Premier League games this term – has been sidelined with a recurrence of a long-standing calf problem and may not play again until February. “But I am sure in the second part of the season we are going to see the real Sergio without injuries”.
Examining a trio of goalless draws, he said: “Against Aston Villa I think we were very unlucky not to win, against Manchester United was a very close game as normal and was a good draw, and the last game against Leicester I don’t think we played badly”.
“I am not a doctor but normally with a muscle injury less than three or four weeks is very hard, especially on the calf”.
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has placed a 1am curfew on his players’ new year celebrations as they attempt to earn their first Premier League victory on the road since September.
Amid all the hype about Jamie Vardy’s goal-scoring exploits, Leicester have quietly compiled a remarkable sequence as a team – nine straight wins at home to teams outside the Premier League’s big six – and that suggests they are good value tonight against Bournemouth. They have home games against their title rivals Arsenal, Spurs and Leicester in 2016 which could have a massive say on where the title ends up this season. I think it’s better to play him for less minutes but with more intensity. Kasper Schmeichel did well and made a few good saves, but we maybe should have done better with the chances we had.
‘Of course, if we don’t win away games we must improve. We have to fight for the next match and we want to win.
City sit third in the Premier League at the halfway point of the season and have an away match against Watford on Saturday. The Premier League this season is odd. It’s not easy for us but we want to fight with everybody. “It’s a miracle what we are doing”.

Of City’s reported interest in Real Madrid’s Isco, who Pellegrini coached when in charge of Malaga, the Chilean said: “I always answer the same for that question”.
