Man City seal fourth spot, Arsenal pile misery on Spurs
Mauricio Pochettino described Tottenham’s final-day capitulation at already-relegated Newcastle as his worst day in football management as his side’s promising Barclays Premier League season ended on a crushing low.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes finishing second in the Barclays Premier League is bittersweet as they finish the season 10 points behind champions Leicester.
Despite pipping rivals Tottenham to second place with a 4-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has had another season of disappointment.
Ray Parlour and Ian Wright also posted tweets reacting to the days events without directly poking fun at Spurs.
“We are really disappointed because we couldn’t stay up, but really happy that we gave the fans something to enjoy today”.
“We need to learn, we need to improve our mentality”. “We wanted to finish second”. At the beginning of the season our challenge was to be in the top four – fantastic, but in the future we need to change a lot and be strong.
Cesc Fabregas’s second-half penalty for Chelsea looked set to condemn Leicester to only their fourth defeat of the season but Danny Drinkwater rescued a point for the champions with a stunning long-distance strike.
“I apologise to our families, the families who have suffered behind us, it is hard now to arrive home and explain what has happened here”.
On hearing the result at St James’ Park, Gunners fans celebrated ‘St Totteringham Day’ on social media – the point in the season where Spurs can no longer finish above Arsenal.
Spurs, Leicester’s closest challengers in the last few weeks, endured a dismal afternoon at relegated Newcastle. “I feel very bad about being third and not finishing above Arsenal; we showed we don’t care about our position in the table”, Pochettino said. It is a pity that Rafael Benitez was not brought in sooner, as he could have kept them up with more time.
Mitrovic was sent off after 67 minutes for a bad foul on Kyle Walker but just when Tottenham fans thought their team had an escape route, they capitulated after Wijnaldum converted a dubiously-awarded spot kick.
He said: “I thought we contained them for a good 80 minutes”.
Following a disappointing season, Chelsea finished 10th.

It was a horrendous end to what was a marvellous season for Tottenham, masking the reality of the fact that they will go straight into the Champions League group stages after securing their highest ever Premier League finish.
