Actually, the man, Nelson Thabo Modupe, member of the Zion Christian Church, said that his religious devotion during world cup 2010 prevented the power cut.
In letter to the electricity firm, Eskom, he explained the main reason for load shedding was lightning and wind, and that he had taken it upon himself to pray to God and ask that no power cuts take place. And that’s why he asked to pay £13.8 million for his power of devotion.

He also said his claim will go before the court soon.
