The man approached Beals as she came back to the auto where the dog was sitting on the passenger seat.

The Flashdance star, who now films the TNT series Proof in British Columbia, had parked her Ford Escape in the West Vancouver enclave of Dunbar around noon. She also added in response to Beal’s reasoning,

“The sun shines in Dunbar just as much as it shines everywhere else.”

When Beals returned after about five minutes, he confronted her. “Thank you”.

“It is, OK. Just so you know I am reporting this.”

“Not in this sort of heat”, she said when asked if the window was open enough for the dog on a day when temperatures reached 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

It’s not known how long Beals was away from the auto. “In this temperature, I don’t think that would necessarily create the type of cooling effect that would ever be sufficient”. Online, BC SPCA’s Chief Prevention and Enforcement Officer Marcie Moriarty has had to deal with many situations where dogs are left in hot cars.

“It baffles my mind that, as human beings, when we enter a vehicle these days, it’s extremely hot and we’re automatically rolling down the windows, turning on the air conditioning full blast”, she told Metro News.
