The family of a young man who died after a teenager plowed a Jeep into a Surrey bus stop Wednesday morning is struggling to make sense of the tragedy. She was treated for minor injuries and remained at the scene.

At about 9:30 a.m., a 17-year-old girl was heading south in a black Jeep on 156 Street and attempted to negotiate a left turn onto Fraser Highway.

“You don’t think you’re going to wake up and find your son has died”, Drew said.

While the cause of the crash is under investigation, police say wet weather may have been a factor.

“We don’t have any indication of speed at this time, but we have engaged our detectives a few the Criminal Collision Investigation Team as well as the collision reconstructionists to give us a better idea of what happened”.

“People just need to drive safe out there”, said Chantelle Archibald, Evan’s sister. Fraser Highway will be closed eastbound at the intersection for the next few hours.
