McGill said that he was hiding under a vehicle in the auto park when he heard someone making noises.
Among the stories of heroism at Pulse, both inside and out, is one told by 26-year-old nursing student Joshua McGill, who gave the shirt off his back to save a man’s life, according to The Gaily Grind. “I noticed he had been shot once in each arm…” You’re going to lay down in the back of that cop auto and then he’s going to lay on top of you, and I want you to bear hug him and try to keep all the pressure on him as you can. “So I took his shirt off, tied it around that one”, McGill recounted. “I took his shirt off, tied it around his other arm where the other gunshot wound was”, he said. “Being covered in blood”, McGill wrote as he told his story on Facebook.
“Blood [was] everywhere on me…” the nursing student said. “And they were like ‘Also, like keep him conscious'”. I had to lay on my back in the backseat.
“I was like, ‘I don’t know if you’re religious but I feel like I need to say a prayer. I promise you, everything is going to be okay'”.
On their way to the hospital, McGill finally learned the man’s name: Rodney. They commented on Mr McGill’s Facebook post with the words “From all of Rodney Sumter’s family….We thank you, may God continue to bless you for your incredible acts”.
Investigators said the shooter killed 49 people and wounded more than 50 others when he opened fire at the packed nightclub.
“And I hear someone kind of like mumbling help!”

“So the police officer turned to me and said, okay this is what the deal is”. People that were wounded, just to get them out of the way. “I remember running and not even looking back, just running, running, running, running to the first [lit] building that I saw, which was a 7-11”. “And another time on his shoulder”, he said.
