The man, who was in his 30s, was rescued along with his wife and two-year-old daughter at Fistral Beach in the southwest of England.

The victim’s wife was also swept into the water at Fistral Beach in Newquay at 17:20 BST on Friday, the coastguard said.
The boy died in hospital along with a 37-year-old woman, believed to be his mother, after a rescue operation at Aberdeen beach.
The Environment Agency’s flood risk manager, Craig Woolhouse said: “We urge people to stay safe on the coast and warn wave-watchers against the unnecessary dangers of taking “storm selfies”.
“It came up from nearly nothing and forced the stoppage of the National Seniors Surf Life Saving Championships”. He later died while the little girl remains in a serious condition.
A spokesperson from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: “The UK Coastguard received a 999 call at 5.20 pm last night reporting that a family of two adults and one child had been washed into the sea off Fistral Beach and were in difficulty”.
The man was taken by air ambulance to hospital where he died. he has not yet been formally identified and next of kin have not been informed.
This morning a spokesman from Falmouth Coastguard told The Herald the father has died.
Anyone who saw the incident or has information which can assist the investigation is being asked to attend Newquay police station today (Saturday) between 2pm and 4pm, or tomorrow between 10am and 2pm.
“You are probably looking at 10ft breaking waves in this area”. People swept in to the sea, very close to rocks.
Detective Constable Jarrod Yewen of Newquay CID said: “We would like to speak to anyone who was on the beach at the time”. “I think eventually that when they were found they were 50-60m off in what were absolutely treacherous conditions”.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the man and woman and three children, from the Surrey area, were holidaying in the Newquay area when the incident happened.
