Man Held On $25K Bail In Millis Robbery, Police Chase

A 32-year-old Millis man was chased out of a neighbor’s basement and led cops on a high-speed chase through three surrounding towns before he was tased by an officer in a Medfield pharmacy, police say.

Around 3 p.m., police say a Millis man, Robert Coyle, came home to find someone in the act of robbing his house.

The resident called authorities immediately, police said.

As Coyle attempted to flee the scene in the vehicle, the homeowner grabbed on, gettting dragged 30 feet.

Police from Millis followed Coyle as his vehicle barreled through stop signs and traffic lights while swerving between lanes, leaving skid marks and a cloud of smoke in his tracks, the report said.

Officers from several towns pursued the vehicle through Millis, Holliston, Sherborn and Medfield, authorities said.

Smith said Coyle got “extremely agitated” when he said he was going to call police.

Millis Police Chief Keith F. Edison said that while auto chases do not happen often in the area, the Millis Police Department and the surrounding towns’ departments are prepared for them. 109 and 27, Millis Police said.

David Coyle was held on $25,000 bail Wednesday.

Police from a different department, Meaney said, reportedly used the Taser on Coyle and he was arrested inside the store.

After his arrest Tuesday, Coyle allegedly told police, that he “deserved to be shot” for driving so fast down a side street.

The homeowner was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He will face charges in all four towns and is due back in court next month.
