Investigators say Green was fleeing from the Baltimore County Police Department after being involved in an earlier collision with a BCPD vehicle in the area of Pulaski Highway.
The crash happened Sunday around 9:20 p.m. when Green – who was said to be driving a Mercedes CL550 – was fleeing from police officers in Baltimore County after hitting a police cruiser there.
38, of the 3400 block of Mayfield Avenue is wanted on charges of negligent manslaughter with an automobile, attempting to elude police, driving on a revoked license and driving without a license.
“As is evident by our ability to bring charges the very next day, the State’s Attorney’s Office worked quickly and closely with the police department to obtain the requisite evidence necessary to appropriately charge the defendant with vehicular manslaughter”.
“I know it started in the county and there’s certain rules, but ya’ll could have stopped, and kept going”, said Darrin Perry II, victim’s father. The impact pushed the Volvo up onto the sidewalk, where a woman was waiting at a bus stop with her 1-year-old son in a stroller. Green has a record of a prior DUI case, but it is unknown if alcohol was a factor Sunday night. “So it was logical for the police to then give chase”, said Kevin Kamenetz, Baltimore County Executive.
Authorities have been criticized in the past for the delay in filing charges in similar cases.
