According to the report, the man, Martin Pistorius, now of 39, couldn’t communicate with anyone or move his body, and everybody thought that he was in coma.
The South African youngster was diagnosed with a debilitating form of meningitis in the late 1980s and was left unable to move, speak or even make eye contact.
His parents, Rodney and Joan Pistorius, said in a talk that they were doing everything for their son – from feeding to bathing to turning him to bed, and doctors even had said that he would soon die.
However, he was gradually coming to normal.
He said later “I was there, not from the very beginning, but about two years into my vegetative state I began to wake up. I was aware of everything, just like any normal person”.
