MIT police officials said there was no threat to the university community. Shortly after the man was shot, the vehicle containing the victim was driven to a Marriott Hotel in Kendall Square, where it is now parked.
Police in Cambridge, meanwhile, say the driver of a vehicle seen leaving the area of a fatal shooting near the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at 8:41 p.m.is “cooperating”, and they are still actively searching for suspects. “The guy got shot”, said one witness.
The victim was pronounced dead after he was transported to a local hospital, police said. Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact police.
In Roxbury, two people were shot on Ernst Street and one person suffered life-threatening injuries. A third gunshot victim came forward to police a few hours later and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. His name has not been released yet.
