Police say the bartender was trying to close up when a male customer, who had been drinking there earlier, attempted to re-enter.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man suspected of biting off the finger of a bartender in the Marina.

When he was denied entry, the man tried to go back in through a small window but was again stopped by the bartender. Police say that during the confrontation, the man bit off the bartender’s ring finger.

“When he opened the door, he got on top of him and started punching him several times in the face”, Manfredi told KPIX.

Now police have released security footage of the moments leading up to the brutal attack in hopes someone will recognize the suspect.

Though the bartender briefly gained an advantage in the scuffle by climbing on top of the suspect, “the suspect then bit and severed one of the victim’s fingers”.

The man, seen talking to his friend after removing his shirt, began kicking a door when the bartender told him to stop. Later he is seen wrestling with a friend who is wearing a leather jacket.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man around six feet tall, weighing 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Video of the suspect shows him wearing a pink shirt, blue jeans and brown shoes around the time of the attack.
