Man killed in police shooting tried to escape troubled past
The fatal shooting of a black man by a Minneapolis police officer has prompted unrest in the city as the community demands answers, while authorities say they can’t provide additional details because of the ongoing investigation.

Schweigart said the 51 individuals who were detained were cooperative in detaining them, and no usage of force was needed.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehensive identified the two officers as 30-year-old Mark Ringgenberg and 28-year-old Dustin Schwarze.
At the same press conference, BCA Superintendent Drew Evans said there were handcuffs at the scene of the shooting, but “preliminarily, the suspect was not in handcuffs”.
Later, hundreds of demonstrators blocked Interstate 94, shutting down the northbound lanes.
Three activists were escorted from a Minneapolis City Council meeting after speaking out about the shooting of a black man by a city police officer.
A federal civil rights investigation has also been launched.
Jamar Clark had been trying to escape a troubled past that followed him much of his life and now hangs over his death. Clark was unarmed and there are conflicting reports on whether he was handcuffed when he was shot. She interrupted council business and started reading stats in regards to the Minneapolis Police Department and the death of 24-year-old Jamar Clark.
“Everyone involved needs and deserves the truth”, Harteau said.
He also said the NAACP had requested Friday’s meeting.
Nicque Mabrey, who lives in South Minneapolis, but grew up between rural Wisconsin and North Minneapolis told the crowd that North Minneapolis was the first place she’d found a community that looked like her. “We’re hurting and healing together”, she said.
A man and another woman from the group did the same thing, and they were escorted out of the room by law enforcement. Officers in his department have recently started wearing body cameras.
Clark had numerous convictions for robbery and domestic assault, but his family members and supporters claimed that he was a “peaceful person” who used to help people in need. His father, James Hill, told The Associated Press that his son suffered a single gunshot wound over his left eye. It then turned into a short march to the scene where Clark was killed.
Earlier in the week, police detained dozens of people who blocked a highway to protest the shooting.

For a period on Wednesday, several protesters occupied the station’s main entrance, as well as the vestibule inside the building.
