Man killed inside a Starbucks in Las Vegas, suspect arrested

A man, believed to be Hispanic and in his 40s, was taken into custody near the scene, McGrath said.

Police said in a briefing that two people were arguing Sunday inside the coffee shop and one shot the other.

At least one person was transported to Spring Valley Hospital and later died according to police, it is unknown at this time what the motive for this incident is.

McGrath said a comment was made about possible explosives inside the suspect’s backpack or inside his truck parked outside, prompting an evacuation of the immediate area and surrounding businesses while bomb experts searched the suspect’s belongings.

Several nearby businesses have been evacuated and an area intersection has been closed.

McGrath said that there was a great deal of confusion at the scene, with no one knowing at first who was involved.

The shooting was reported shortly before noon as a hostage situation.

Rainbow Boulevard was blocked off at Warm Springs until just before 3 p.m., when police allowed the north-south thoroughfare to be reopened to traffic.

That victim’s condition was not immediately available.
