Police found Cunningham stabbed to death in her home in an upstairs bedroom shortly after 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night. No one else was inside the house at the time. While responding to a neighbor’s call for a well-being check, police found Sue stabbed multiple times. She was taken to Rush Copley Hospital in Aurora where she was later pronounced dead. Sue Cunningham is survived by two children; her husband Craig had three children. Police said Craig told a family member he had killed his wife and was going to kill himself.

Police say after the stabbing, 46-year-old Craig Cunningham was fatally struck by a vehicle on I-55 just north of Route 126.

The male, who lived in Plainfield, was hit by a vehicle about 8:15 p.m.in the northbound lanes of I-55, according to Illinois State Police and the Will County coroner’s office.

Sue Cunningham had written the points of advice when she was known as “Ms. Triplett” to her health and physical education students and remained “Trip” to her colleagues.

“She was more upset that she couldn’t work with the kids than she was about being sick”, her friend, Melanie Leung, said. “All District 202 employees mourn Sue’s passing”, Abrell said in a statement from the district.

A vigil in Cunningham’s memory is planned to take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Plainfield North, 12005 S. 248th Ave.

The woman was unresponsive and not breathing, police said.
