Man loses job over Facebook post about co-worker’s 3-year-old son
WAGA-TV reports Gerod Roth posted a photo with his co-worker’s son to the social media site, and Roth’s Facebook friends made several racist comments on the photo that has since gone viral.

Sydney Shelton is the mother of the three-year-old child, Cayden.
The company Roth worked for, Polaris Marketing Group, issued a statement about the photo. She told FOX 5 she was unaware that Roth took a picture with her son.
The original Facebook post has been taken down but many people have shared the content. Here are comments to a post on the Gerod Roth Give Public Apology Facebook page.
Although most of the bad comments on the page were from Geris’s social media followers, he admitted he did leave one comment calling Cayden “feral” but said it was in reference to all the children running around in the building and not Cayden.
Roth admits to making one remark on the thread.
“I just really feel upset, not only with myself, but also with the character that was based off of the comments that my friends had made”, Roth said in the interview. This is the post that I would love to have associated with Cayden’s name and OUR story. “We are above all of this nonsense that has been going on”. “Thank you for standing up for what’s right”. “He’s not deaf, he’s not mute, he’s not abandoned”, contradicting online rumors that Cayden suffered from disabilities. Roth told WAGA he didn’t think Shelton would mind. He just went about like nothing even happened.

Soon after, his Facebook friends began to comment on the post, captioning the pic with bigoted and racists comments. Sidney Jade says it’s nice to know your boss “has your back”.
