He disappeared into a wooded area near the border of Kentucky and Tennessee, police said.

Being sought in connection to the shooting is Floyd Ray Cook.

A state trooper attempted to stop Cook on KY 61, but officials say he took off.

He’s accused of shooting an Algood police officer Saturday afternoon.

Authorities said they’re actively searching for a suspect after an officer was shot in Putnam County. It was unclear what charges he would face from the alleged shootout in Cumberland County, Kentucky. Nelson said Valencia, who has been an officer with the department for 1 ½ years, was wearing a bulletproof vest, which saved his life. The officer has since been released.

He was last seen in a black Ford F-150 with Kentucky tags.

The truck has an extended cab with a tool box in the bed and chrome running boards and a blue University of Kentucky Wildcat license plate on the front of the vehicle. He is considered armed and unsafe and should not be approached.
