In the video, the suspect appears to exchange punches with one of the officers before they both tumble to the ground.

“We are very fortunate these officers were not killed or more seriously injured”, he added.
“Our officers were targeted”. In the process, he struck two of the three officers, as the third just barely managed to get out of the way. Since then, his record was clean up until Tuesday morning.
The three Phoenix officers had been at that location for an unrelated call. “The suspect vehicle struck two of the officers, collided into a police vehicle and crashed into the QT causing extensive damage”.
Yahner told reporters Payne had been sitting in his parked auto for several minutes before allegedly turning on the engine and gunning it.
– Shocking video: a driver targeting Phoenix Police officers – running them down outside a valley Quik Trip gas station near 25th Avenue and Camelback Road on Tuesday morning. In the lower right corner, it picks up speed – heading right towards the three officers. “… Unbelievable, our officer that hits the front of the glass and smashes the glass, gets back up, engages in a fight to take the suspect in custody”. He reversed and backed into a parking spot. It showed a vehicle backing out of a parking space, circling the parking lot and then accelerating toward the officers. The auto sideswiped the police vehicle and proceeds to ram the storefront. “There appears to be no brake light activation as Marc accelerates and strikes the officers”, states the police documents.
But it didn’t end there.
“The defendant was tased numerous times by two officers”, states the police report.
Court documents show in 1997, Payne pleaded guilty to aggravated assault after resisting arrest and kicking a Phoenix police officer twice in the leg.
The man accused of slamming his vehicle into three police officers made his first court appearance overnight.
He was taken to a local hospital where he is listed in serious condition.
The attack came during an especially violent year for police officers nationwide, including separate deadly attacks in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Dallas over the summer. The third officer did not seek treatment.
The officers were taken to the hospital. He was booked into jail on Tuesday evening.
Police suspect impairment may be a factor in the crash.

Payne was “impaired” at the time of the attack, which the police believe was intentional, KSAZ reported.
