Man Proposes While Dressed as Michael Myers

It’s the end of the week, and we’d like to go out on a sweetly upbeat number, so here it is: It’s been a number of years now since the age of outrageously over-produced spectacles involving marriage proposals began.

On October 25, 2014, Alec Wells puts on a Michael Myers mask on “Halloween Street”, where the iconic movie was actually filmed, and laid in wait for his unsuspecting victim-err, girlfriend, Katherine Canipe. She is then coaxed into following him and discovers a maskless Wells, crouched down on the sidewalk while holding with a black glove-clad hand a box containing an engagement ring, spurring her to sob.

Today in kitschy marriage proposals I would never, ever want: Kelly Canipe is a huge horror fan. Well, 30-year-old Alec Wells bypassed all of that by going straight to the most romantic idea he could think of-namely, a masked, psychotic serial killer. Wells jumped out from behind the same bush Michael Myers did in the film while wearing the killer’s traditional blank mask, only this time his victim was crying from happiness when he dropped to one knee and proposed. But for a gal like Katherine who hosts her own podcast about horror movies, it was AWESOME. So when it came time to pop the question, he knew just how to do it, as you can see in the video above. Later, the two posed for “Back to the Future“-themed engagement photos”. According to Metro, they plan to marry on November 13, 2015.
