Emergency services detailed the nearly three-hour operation in which crews tried to isolate the climber, after first trying to talk him down through a vent on the 5th floor.
Others showed support toward the climber or disappointment when he was dragged away by police.
Officers from the NYPD watch as a man climbs the outside of Trump Tower in NY.
At the end of the entire episode, emergency responders brought the man out of the building on a stretcher and placed him in an ambulance.
Onlookers watched as he scaled the building for almost three hours, climbing ropes and construction-grade suction cups. Emergency Services workers had been cutting holes through grates in the building, hoping to intercept the climber.
According to Sgt. Carlos Nieves, airbags were deployed around the tower in case Rogata fell down. Officers then removed two windows from the 21st floor and began talking to the climber.
The NYPD said Wednesday that police are working with the Manhattan district attorney’s office to determine what charges to file against Steve for climb.
Cops had been actively negotiating but were reluctant to do anything that could cause him to fall, the official said. “His whole intention was to meet with Mr. Trump”.
A day before the ascent, police said the climber posted a video on YouTube entitled, “Message to Mr Trump (why I climbed your tower)”.
“This is clearly a stunt guy”, the official said.
As the scene unfolded, a crowd formed below on Madison Avenue, with some people cheering and whistling for him. Is it Spider-Man? No, it’s what people are calling “The Human Fly”. When the climber slipped, gasps could be heard.
Congratulations on getting somebody’s attention, Building-Climbing Guy.
“He was acting kind of weird, jumping around”, one witness said.
It was unclear why the man scaled the building.
Personnel from the New York Police Department had to undertake elaborate safety measures as well as some extreme steps like breaking some windows in the Tower to pull the man inside the building.
Trump was at a rally in Abingdon, Va., during the incident.

“I’ll get my contact information to your campaign so that if you are interested you can respond”, he said. “There’s damage to the building and he caused the unnecessary deployment of New York’s finest to protect his safety and the safety of everyone in the building”, said Michael D. Cohen, special counsel to the Trump Organization.
