Police were called to the disturbance in Claremont Road at around 2.45am and found the man, who was thought to have a knife.

The man was hit with the stun gun following reports of a “disturbance” in the early hours of this morning.

At 9:59 a.m., police said the officer – believing the suspect may have had a weapon and out of concern for the safety of the suspect, the witnesses and the police – made a decision to use a Taser to apprehend the suspect.

Firearms officers attended and the man was shot.

The man was immediately rushed to hospital following the incident, but there was no further information given as to the man’s condition.

There were no reports of any other injuries.
