Man shot by police on Church Street South in New Haven
New Haven and Connecticut State Police investigate the scene of a man shot by police in his auto, center, earlier in the morning at Church Street South in New Haven on Tuesday.

Palmieri reportedly ran two police cruisers, before one of the officers shot him in the arm.
The shooting occurred in the area of Church Street and Columbus Street.
No officers were injured in the incident, but one is receiving treatment for exposure to bodily fluids.
They began to chase him, but terminated the pursuit when it became too risky to continue, Hartman said.
Police in New Haven said they were investigating another robbery in the Elm City, when the spotted the black SUV that Palmieri was believed to be driving.
Police on the scene tell News 8 that the suspect, identified as 49-year-old Kenneth Palmieri, of Branford, was involved in the overnight robbery of the Xtra Mart in Guilford. Palmieri was taken by ambulance to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
He drove away from police and officers called off the pursuit.
Police said Palmieri was born in 1966.
State police spokeswoman Kelly Grant said the New Haven officer involved in the shooting was not hurt.

As protocol dictates, the investigation is in the hands of the State’s Attorney’s office and the Connecticut State Police.
