Man shot dead in Cedar City, suspect still at large

Police said they were called at 6:38 a.m. Sunday to the 500 north block of 400 West, after several residents reported multiple shots fired.

A suspect who Cedar City police consider armed and unsafe is being sought in connection to a homicide early Sunday morning.

Police said Mair was last seen in a tan or gold colored four-door sedan passenger auto, possibly an early 2000 Ford Tarus, heading north on Interstate 15.

Investigators said they are looking for Mark Mair, 27. The auto was driven by a slender woman with dirty blonde hair.

Womack said responding officers found the 34-year-old man, whose name was not immediately released, dead at the scene.

Mair is considered armed and unsafe. He was in possession of a.40 caliber handgun at the time of the shooting, Womack said. He was in possession of a handgun and is also believed to be in possession of an SKS rifle and sawed-off shotgun.

Anyone with information on Mair or his whereabouts are asked to please call police, but do not approach him. This story will be updated as more information is provided.
