Man shot, killed during Wisconsin standoff fired at officers

The unnamed officers are two Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies and one Langlade County deputy.

Lincoln County Sheriff Jeff Jaeger on Wednesday refused to release any additional details about events in the county; he specifically declined to answer questions about what happened during the standoff or how negotiations broke down and gunfire began.

Four officers returned fire during Tuesday’s standoff, striking and killing Minard.

Lincoln County led the response, but Marathon County assisted by sending the SWAT team and other resources to the scene. He declined to say which agencies are giving the department guidance.

The Wisconsin DOJ-led investigation of this incident has been a collaboration between DCI, the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory, the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office, and the University of Wisconsin Hospital who will conduct the autopsy. 64 west into Lincoln County. An armed stand off Tuesday in Lincoln County ended with the shooting death of 50-year old Scot A. Minard of Eagle River, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
