Man shot outside White House remains critical
Early on Friday afternoon, Secret Service cleared the White House North Lawn, Pennsylvania Avenue, and Lafayette as part of an “ongoing security incident”.

A Schuylkill County man shot at the White House on Friday was still in critical condition Sunday at George Washington University Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said. She declined to provide further details.
The armed man approached the checkpoint on E Street shortly after 3 p.m., and ignored repeated orders from the officer to drop his gun, according to a statement from David Iacovetti, a Secret Service deputy assistant director.
According to sources, the suspect, identified to TMN as Jesse Oliverei of Ashland, Pennsylvania, approached Secret Service personnel brandishing a weapon and did not respond to demands from authorities.
Robert Hoback, a Secret Service spokesman, said Saturday that they do not have updated information on the incident.
The Metropolitan Police Department, the Secret Service, Park Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation said there was “no known nexus to terrorism”.
A White House official said “no one within or associated with the White House was injured, and everyone in the White House is safe and accounted for”.
“Secret Service Uniformed Division Officers gave numerous verbal commands for the subject to stop and drop the firearm”. We went to football games together.
Residents in Oliveri’s neighborhood of Ashland say they are surprised to learn someone who lives so close was behind the event. Football season starts, I see him.
Cathy Hadesty, who lived near Oliveri, said the police closed off a section of road near the Oliveri home on Friday but reopened it on Saturday. “Not really the experience we wanted”, she said. She also said she did not know the alleged gunman personally but thought his family was neighborly.
In June 2015, an Army Veteran scaled a fence at the White House while carrying a knife.

Court records show that Oliveri had just one recorded run-in with police a 2004 guilty plea to careless driving.
