A 38-year-old man was slashed across his face with a box cutter in the Bryant Park subway station after getting into a fight with another passenger on a train Thursday morning, officials said. Two straphangers reportedly got into an argument on a northbound D train that escalated and turned physical.

Emergency responders rushed to the 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue subway station to treat the victim who is listed in stable condition.

The attacker, who used a box cutter according to Pix11, was said to be wearing a black jacket and gray sweatpants and is believed to have fled westbound from the station, into Bryant Park.

“The blood was profusely dripping from his hands and face”, she said.

“He was calm, not like he was in shock”, she said. “One male produced a box cutter after they got into words and the victim received slash wounds to the face, hands and chest area”, said Assistant NYPD Chief James Coogan.

No arrests have been made, and a motive is unclear although police said the men were seen arguing before the incident.

Delays meant B and D trains were being re-routed over the C line between West Fourth Street and Columbus Circle while police investigated the scene.
