Man Tries To Extinguish Fire With A Van Full Of Live Ammunition

And that is exactly what a man in Clay County, Missouri, made a decision to do when his garbage fire got a little out of control.

The deputy summoned firefighters, but the responders moved to a safe distance when they discovered ammunition inside the vehicle was discharging.

In the history of silly ideas, driving a van loaded with ammunition over a fire in an attempt to put it out is probably near the top of the list.

He said he first tried to put it out with a rake, then hopped into his van and tried to drive over it, but his back tire caught fire.

Eventually, firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.

The Kansas City Star reported yesterday that the man was setting garbage ablaze in the middle of a local field, and later panicked when he couldn’t keep the fire in check. And if you thought a garbage fire + live ammunition was fun, just wait to ’til you get a load of all that plus radioactive waste!

Police say the deputy didn’t immediately cite the driver, but mentioned that the driver declined to make a report for insurance purposes. The deputy soon found the van’s owner, who ran away and was watching from a distance, and the fire department was called.
