Man U’s Louis van Gaal the latest manager feeling pressure

United have lost their last three matches in all competitions and have gone six games without victory, while they now trail Premier League leaders Leicester City by nine points. This coupled with their group stage exit from the Champions League has left a bad taste in the mouth of everyone involved.

The match ended 2-1 in favor of the Canaries, marking the second consecutive Manchester United defeat to a newly promoted side.

After breaking clear in the 54th minute, Jerome fed the ball through to Alex Tetley who squeezed the ball past David de Gea.

Can Manchester United finally pull off a win this weekend?! Norwich City will be plotting just that.

MANCHESTER, England (AP) – Manchester United’s first loss at home to Norwich in more than 26 years extended the club’s winless run to six games and heaped more pressure on manager Louis van Gaal on Saturday.

On Saturday, the story was all too familiar.

Their recent form hasn’t been any better as the Red Devils have won the last four fixtures between the two. Was he anxious about his own job, especially with Jose Mourinho now a free agent?

Much of the damage that was done in that match was self inflicted, so if they can cut out the simple mistakes and defend strongly as a unit, there is no reason why Norwich can come away with something from this encounter.

Manchester United are still in transition, after all. “We have to win against Norwich and we know that”.

“What you’ve seen today is what a lack of confidence can do”, he said.

Anthony Martial, fresh from claiming the Golden Boy prize for 2015, gave United a lifeline with a calm finish from close range in the 67th minute as United poured forward in the torrential Manchester rain.

“Then two days after that, we have to play against Chelsea, so we have to show our professional attitude to improve and regain our confidence”.

But this defeat was different to the last.

United fans’ frustration was immediately evident, and even more so at the interval, although the boos turned to loud applause as the players reached the tunnel.

Exclusive columns from Ireland legends Paul McGrath and Kevin Moran are in the mix, while Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger give us their views ahead of a big Sunday of Premier League action.

Is he still the right man for United? “That’s the only way you get that back”. Has Mourinho’s sacking rattled him more than he would like to admit? That is happening now.

“I don’t think a change of management shall bring direct success – but that is what I believe”, he said. Jose Mourinho can vouch for that.
