Man United boss frustrated following Chelsea draw

While reaching the Champions League’s top tier has not seemed likely since Mourinho was dismissed by Chelsea in December, the draw is more damaging for United, which is six points from neighbor Manchester City in fourth.

Van Gaal hadn’t calmed down by the time he arrived in the post-match press conference, and this time directed his anger against the media.

“When you are playing like we have played today (yesterday) and you are not making the gap smaller, you can say it’s misfortune, but it’s not the first time that it’s overcoming us”.

“I have to say that you are getting the sack tomorrow”.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal refuses to believe the Red Devils are already in talks over appointing Jose Mourinho to succeed him in the summer, and has blasted how his treatment in the media has impacted on his family.

He also said he was too arrogant to doubt himself: “Did I doubt myself?” What is your name, so I can announce the name also? “Then you can control the game, but in the last quarter we gave it away”.

‘So it is more frustrating that they scored in extra-time, it is a pity because we had the chance to score more goals. “When you play such a game against a team like Chelsea, you have to reward yourself”.

“The last few years Manchester United haven’t won here so it’s not an easy match and we took the lead with a fantastic goal”.

“He [De Gea] was remarkable because they were almost goals I think”.

“At this moment I don’t know where football will take me, because in football you never know”. Jose Mourinho is seemingly on his way come what may but Van Gaal has earned himself some breathing space. I can have my family, I can have my friends, I can have my quiet life, which I also like, and I can have my football.

For most of the past decade this fixture has been one of the highlights of the season, and often a potential a title-decider, but with both teams off the pace this season, there was a subdued atmosphere at the ground in the first half.

It has gone for Chelsea, the champions, with interim manager Guus Hiddink effectively admitting that afterwards.

‘We have four very important months and I think the manager wants me to be fresh. “But for sure, I will be back soon”, he said.

He also said that team would need to pay close attention on Anthony Martial who scored a cracker against Stoke City.
