Man United not concerned about José Mourinho’s criticism of Luke Shaw

The claim, which was made by Neville on his Twitter feed on Tuesday night, follows an article in the Daily Telegraph in which Mourinho is accused of being nasty and personal in his criticism of certain players.

Manchester United are plotting a £30m move for Leicester’s Danny Drinkwater, whom they are willing to pay £150,000-per-week as they plot to solve the Paul Pogba problem at Old Trafford, according to reports from The Sun.

Herrera worked harder than most to adapt his game to Van Gaal’s philosophy after coming under constant criticism from the Dutchman for giving the ball away by attempting risky through balls and is now struggling to recapture his creativity. He is confident they will, however, given time, seemingly understanding that his style of football is vastly different to that of Van Gaal.

“It was very unkind of Mourinho to call out Luke Shaw on Sunday – not least because he was by no means the only one at fault for Watford’s second goal”, he said.

The former Chelsea boss wants his players to be more instinctive whereas Van Gaal – his mentor at Barcelona – insisted on drilling procedures into his team.

Shaw is not expected to play in tonight’s EFL Cup Clash against Northampton due to what’s being reported as a minor groin tear. Does Mourinho need to change his way of thinking?

Even though Mourinho’s criticism has been significantly stronger behind closed doors and ruffled a few feathers in the dressing room, the Old Trafford hierarchy are said to be relaxed about his approach. They are one point below Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Marouane Fellaini’s impressive start to the season has given way to a disappointing spell, but what was Mourinho expecting when asking the Belgian to play as a pivot behind Pogba and Wayne Rooney at Watford?

Memphis Depay has had little action and will figure at Sixfields, although it might have to be as a substitute with Mourinho likely to go for Ashley Young on the left flank.
