Man United’s Darmian out for ‘several weeks’

Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian will be ruled out for “several weeks” with a dislocated shoulder, report BBC Sport.

Darmian was forced off in the 37th minute at the Stadium of Light after a collision with Sunderland’s opening goalscorer Wahbi Khazri.

Luke Shaw broke his leg against PSV Eindhoven in September, while the likes of Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Guillermo Varela are now unavailable.

Unfortunately for the player and his increasingly beleaguered manager, there was no happy ending as Louis van Gaal’s side succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at Sunderland.

“It is a dislocation so he will be out for several weeks”. Wingers Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young, both of whom have filled in at full back, are also now out of action through injury.

His preferred position is right-back and he has played for Scotland at Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 level, having been recommended to the SFA by former United midfielder Darren Fletcher.

Their next Premier League game is a home clash against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday 28 February.
