Man United: United chief side steps Pogba question

The BBC claim that Wayne Rooney’s testimonial match will be available to 1.7billion people worldwide on the social network via the Facebook pages of the England captain and his club United.

The first half was a cagey affair, as Manchester United dominated the game, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic came close twice.

And out front, Ibrahimovic will surely be delighted with the large driveway and double garage, ideal for the large fleet of cars that he is reportedly planning on bringing with him to the UK.

He said: “When he left I asked him why and he said: ‘I want to be the best player in the world.’ He’s on the right track. He works not only for himself, but for the striker and the whole team”. “I’m absolutely happy to be one of the guys beside him”.

Seeing them together was certainly a tantalising prospect for the fans but, despite some fluid moves, chances were few and far between.

It remains to be seen what role Rooney will play under new coach Jose Mourinho this season, with the forward having been increasingly used as a midfielder under previous boss Louis van Gaal.

“He’s a competitor and he wants to win, whether it’s a friendly like tonight or the Community Shield [against Leicester City] on Sunday”.

United are expected to announce the world record signing of Pogba after it is understood they agreed to sign him for a world record fee from Juventus, however the Old Trafford store is refusing to print “Pogba 6” shirts.

At the other end of the field, United goalkeeper David De Gea highlighted his own value once again by blocking a drive from Ross Barkley and there was an escape for the home side before the break when Romelu Lukaku headed wide.

In the second half, former Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini headed at Joel Robles.

A drab game had little to entertain the 58,597 crowd, who will help Rooney raise a reported £5 million for charity, and, as has been the case throughout the pre-season games, Mourinho used 22 players during the 90 minutes.

The England captain is on the cusp of breaking Sir Bobby Charlton’s club record haul of goals, and he just needs five more strikes next season to overhaul the legendary Red Devil.
