Man Utd urged to appoint Pep Guardiola as Louis van Gaal’s replacement
Manchester City could be another possible future employer, with Guardiola having worked previously with their chief executive Ferran Soriano and director of football Txiki Beguiristain during his time at Barca, while speculation over Louis van Gaal’s future at Manchester United could make a move to Old Trafford a possibility. But Guardiola’s team was torn apart by Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid 4-0 in Munich to go out 5-0 on aggregate in the semifinals of the Champions League.

City’s ex-Barca hierarchy might be a factor which pulls Guardiola to the Etihad, while Manchester United’s poor form has opened up the question of how long they may stand by Dutch coach Louis van Gaal.
There won’t be an eighth try as the German club announced Sunday that the Italian will replace current Bayern coach Pep Guardiola at the end of the season.
Ancelotti was confirmed as Guardiola’s replacement on Sunday, with the Italian due to take over at the end of the season.
The Spanish manager’s success at Barcelona and Bayern Munich means that he can choose from any top club in Europe and there are suitors aplently, especially in the rich circle of the Premier League. Despite the clubâs willingness for him to stay on, Guardiola chose to leave after three seasons in charge.
In the same statement, Ancelotti said “it’s an honour for me to be a part of this great club next season”. Bayern is leading the Bundesliga, it has reached the quarterfinals of the German Cup and is in the knockout stage of the Champions League, with Juventus looming as the next rival. “I am sure he will be very important for the club”.
“What we sought, we found”, Rummenigge said.
It remains to be seen how the players will react to a lame-duck coach, despite Guardiola’s record and reputation.
Guardiola, who took over Heynckes’ treble-winning side in 2013, led Bayern to the Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup that same year, a German league and cup double in 2014, and another Bundesliga title in 2015.

Second-placed Borussia Dortmund are now eight points behind Bayern after crashing to a 2-1 defeat at Cologne as the hosts scored twice in the final 10 minutes.
