Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that the reigning champions will struggle to retain their title after a poor start to the season that has seen them pick up just eight points from as many games, and the former Real Madrid boss insisted that a top-four finish has become their priority.
Newcastle United versus Everton then gets the bumper festive season underway on BT Sport with a 17:30 kick-off at St James’ Park on Boxing Day, immediately followed by a 19:45 evening match between Southampton and Arsenal on the same day.
Key games set for coverage during the fixture include Arsenal vs Manchester City and Chelsea’s visit to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.
By the turn of the year, Sky Sports would have shown 62 live matches. The 35-year-old midfield conjurer addressed the fact that the Citizens have emerged only recently and revealed that their local rivals, Manchester United, are his favourite side amongst the English.
January kicks off with Liverpool’s trip to Upton Park to face West Ham while games involving Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham have all also been selected for live broadcast.

Bruce Cuthbert, director commercial customers, BT Sport, said: “Christmas is a busy season for licensees and once again we have a feast of football for people to enjoy in their local pub or club”.
