The first bomb detonated in the Chelsea district of Manhattan, injuring 29.

Notably, the two bombs in NY involved pressure cookers, the same containers used in the Boston Marathon attacks.

Who is Ahmad Khan Rahami?

Rahami filed paperwork to bring his wife to the U.S.in 2011 and it was approved the following year, but it is unclear if she ever came to the U.S., CNN reported.

Rahami used to hang out late at his family’s restaurant and do rap battles; he was known to his friends as “Med.” Elizabeth is about 15 miles south of lower Manhattan.

The bombing spread fear across the NY area and revived anxiety about homegrown terrorism nationwide. He said now, investigators would “make sure that we get to the bottom of who’s involved and why”.

Meanwhile, federal authorities were conducting a raid on a New Jersey apartment above a fried chicken restaurant.

“This guy”, of course, is Ahmad Khan Rahami, a 28 year-old naturalized citizen of Afghan descent, who the Federal Bureau of Investigation identified just hours ago as a suspect.

Investigators said Rahami packed the pressure cooker with BBs, ball bearings, Christmas lights, and an explosive called Tannerite.

Though FBI Assistant Director William F. Sweeney Jr., said there is “no indication” of an active operating cell in the NY area, evidence suggests Rahami was not acting alone, sources told CNN. It went citywide May 2009 as a means to communicate localized emergency information quickly to city residents.

An official told Fox News on Sunday that the bombs in New Jersey and NY were “from the same person” and the devices in both explosions included mobile phones. On Sunday, five explosive devices were discovered in a trash can at an Elizabeth train station. The bag had wires and a pipe protruding from it.

After zeroing in on Rahami and learning of the vehicle that had traveled between New Jersey and NY, authorities pulled it over Sunday night after it headed in the direction of Kennedy airport.

Pearson reported from NY. That same year, he filed paperwork to bring her back to the USA, and it was approved in 2012. Amtrak said 2,400 passengers were affected. That interview stemmed from a tip alleging that Rahami’s father was calling his son a terrorist, according to two U.S. officials. “I don’t believe the City of Elizabeth at this stage – was a target”, he said, according to WUNF. Still, some of the family restaurant’s customers said that while Rahami was devout, he was more likely to talk about his interest in cars than to mention faith.

The investigation into the Chelsea bombing Saturday night continues as President Obama and the U.N. General Assembly converge on Manhattan for a summit on refugees.

Federal authorities believe that the explosion in Chelsea, where another explosive device was found nearby, was linked to as many as six explosive devices found just outside NY in Elizabeth, Homeland Security officials told Reuters. The officers’ injuries weren’t life-threatening.

The pipe bomb exploded Saturday in Seaside Park, New Jersey, before a charity 5K race to benefit Marines and sailors.

Until Monday, the White House has refrained from weighing in on the attacks and instead deferred to local officials on the front lines of the ongoing investigations. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called the bombing last Saturday night “an act of terror”.

Rahami was charged with five counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful goal on Monday. Both said Monday that appeared to be changing.
