Mr John Kerry, U.S. Secretary of State, on Tuesday lauded the efforts of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, for promoting religious tolerance and understanding among Nigerians.

The Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State has criticised President Muhammadu Buhari for seeking emergency powers from the National Assembly to manage the economy.

On insurgency in Nigeria, Kerry commended the government determination to combat the menace and other crimes across the country. “We don’t want to interfere, but will offer opportunities as you require”, he added.
Kerry, for his part, was quoted as praising Buhari for his anti-corruption crusade while offering US assistance in a myriad of areas, including the economy and the fight against Boko Haram.

The event was witnessed by Governors Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto and and Abdul’aziz Yari of Zamfara states, including ýreligious, traditional and community leaders, as well as students.
