Man who says he was Omar Mateen’s gay lover speaks out

That’s the alleged ex-lover of Omar Mateen, the Orlando shooter who murdered 49 people at the gay nightclub Pulse a week and a half ago. Miguel and Mateen met some 15 to 20 times, the last of which was in December.

“I had told the Federal Bureau of Investigation about Omar because my community, and Muslims generally, have nothing to hide”, Malik said.

“The thing that makes me want to tell the truth is that he didn’t do it for terrorism”, Miguel told Univision.

He believes the massacre – in which 49 people were killed – was Mateen’s “revenge” after discovering a Puerto Rican man he had sex with was HIV-positive.

“‘I told him, you’re totally right, ‘” Miguel said. Said Manteen committed the mass killings as an act of revenge rather than terrorism. “I asked him, ‘Did you do a test?’ Yes”. They grabbed a copy of tapes from those two months – and Mateen IS on them!

“He adored Latinos, gay Latinos, with brown skin – but he felt rejected”.

“We went to a few gay bars with him, and I was not out at the time, so I declined his offer”, the classmate, who wasn’t named, said about the date offer.

During their casual relationship, Miguel says, Mateen spoke about Islam, describing it as ‘a handsome religion in which everyone is welcome – gays, trans, bisexuals, heteros, everyone’.

Asked about his son’s sexual orientation last week, Seddique Mir Mateen said he did not believe his son was gay.

A US official with knowledge of the situation previously told CBS News that club-goers have told investigators that Mateen had been at Pulse numerous times previously. The shooter was attracted to Puerto Rican men, but felt rejected and used by them, Miguel said.

A man who claims he had a “friend with benefits” relationship with Omar Mateen insisted the shooting was not because of any Islamic extremist tendencies but instead was revenge against an HIV-positive lover. He was looking for love. “Guys used him. That really affected him”, Miguel said.

Jim Van Horn, 71, said Mateen was a “regular” at the popular Pulse nightclub. Over 90% of the victims were of Hispanic descent and the shooting occurred on Pulse’s weekly “Latin Night”.

The former lover also admitted that Mateen’s wife knew he was gay and that this father forced them into an arranged marriage.
