The activist’s death sparked off a game of political one-upmanship in the state.
Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep anguish about the death. Thus, Koti became the first martyr of Andhra Pradesh in its movement for Special Status.
“They (ruling BJP and TDP) said during elections that it is their responsibility”.
Ahead of Monday’s Xiaomi’s announcement on Monday, CM Naidu held a meting on Sunday with the Capital Advisory Group at his residence where he said that the world is looking towards Andhra Pradesh in building the new capital. The TDP alleged that the provocative speeches delivered by senior Congress leaders at the party meeting on Saturday had forced Koti to take this extreme step. “The Congress did not follow a scientific method to divide the state”, Venkaiah said from Chennai. But after the Telugu states are bifurcated and AP is rejected the special status, Koti felt that the incidents are turning worse and so took this decision.
His statement came within days of Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh telling the Parliament in reply to a question by a member from Bihar that the special status would not be given to any state any more.
Mr Naidu further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had briefed him about the infrastructural marvels of Astana and Asghabat, capital cities of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, respectively, and suggested to him to send a delegation to these cities to study and incorporate best practices there.

Meanwhile, YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who will stage a protest demonstration in Delhi on Monday seeking special status for AP, will visit Tirupati on Tuesday to meet the family of the deceased Congress worker. The latter spoke to Koti’s brother Murali on phone on Sunday.
