As if going to the dentist isn’t painful enough, one IL man got way more than he bargained for when his dentist dropped a tool down his throat during a routine procedure. “She’s been my dentist for years”.
Pawlowicz’s lawyer told the TV station that Kozar-Warchalowska informed Pawlowicz, of Hoffman Estates, that she couldn’t locate the instrument after the root canal procedure, and she would call him when it turned up.
“The dentist on the day of the procedure knew that she dropped the tool, but she didn’t know exactly what happened to it”. “She told me when she found it, she will be calling me”, Pawlowicz said. “She looked around the room and couldn’t find it”, Pawlowicz’s attorney, Rob Kohen, told ABC Chicago. The phone never rang.
Four days later, Pawlowicz started suffering severe stomach pains and went to the hospital.
According to CBS Chicago, the dentist – Dr. Beata Kozar-Warchalowska – tried to hide the fact that she had dropped the file down Pawlowicz’s throat, claiming she had no idea where the instrument was. The silver lining for Pawlowicz: He just won a $675,000 settlement over the incident at Gentle Dental services in Des Plaines.
