Deputy Police Chief spokesman Col Kissana Phathanacharoen said all three men were charged with offences including concealment of a body, obstruction of justice and possession of fraudulent passports.
Sathien described the three arrested men as English-speaking foreigners but said police did not know their nationalities as they had been traveling on forged US and British passports.
One of the men grabbed a gun and opened fire during Friday’s raid on the alleged crime den, injuring an officer who has been hospitalised.
After the arrest of the five suspects, police searched the shophouse and seized six handguns, fake passports, a printer, chemicals and methamphetamine.
“Tourism police investigated and found out that global criminals were staying at that place and using it to do wrong things”, Surachet told reporters.
The men will be taken from Phrakanong police station in Bangkok on Saturday and moved to holding facilities at a local court where they will be officially charged.
Police haven’t confirmed the nationality and identity of the third suspect.
All three suspects claimed to represent a research firm and declined to answer police questions.
He said U.S. authorities were interested in the case and would join the investigation.
The police official said “We found a big freezer in which the body was chopped into different parts and was concealed in many rubbish bags”.
