Manager Farrell Visits Team Saturday Morning

Coming off the Sox’ 22-10 drubbing of Cy Young Award victor “King” Felix Hernandez, Nuno certainly will be wary when he toes the bump Sunday.

Put simply, he was bad.

The 22 runs and 26 hits were the most ever allowed by the Mariners.

The Mariners had 13 hits, went 4-for-10 with runners in scoring position and stranded six. “That’s what you [like] to see”, he said. After the game, Mariners manager Lloyd McLendon acknowledged that Nuno could have earned the win had it not been for his first-inning miscue. “The only silver lining was we scored 10 runs and the offense came alive and kept battling and there were no injuries”. Allowing nine runs on 10 hits in 2 1/3 innings, Montgomery is now winless in seven starts and has a 7.99 ERA over that span. “I’ve had some struggles for longer periods of time than this, so I’m not anxious about it”, Montgomery said. “Tomorrow, hopefully we have a good outing and win a ballgame”. “It was just unfortunate this happened”.

“Embarrassing”, he said. “That was embarrassing”. “I don’t try to do too much more”. Their bullpen had their issues, but enough damage was done that not even the 10 allowed runs mattered in the least.

Rangers 12, Rays 4: Adrian Beltre hit a three-run homer, and Colby Lewis won his 13th game to boost Texas. After the game, he felt a weight get lifted off his shoulders in the form of his first career victory. I am just going with the over right or wrong…

It continued a troubling trend this season. Owens picked up his first career win in Detroit last Sunday, holding the Tigers to one run on three hits over five innings.

Hernandez somehow managed to work a scoreless first inning, despite giving up three singles. Farquhar, a former New Hampshire Fisher Cat, gave up one run on three hits and a walk in 2 2/3 innings Saturday….

Ketel Marte started the game with a double into the left-field corner. The Mariners loaded the bases on back-to-back singles from Austin Jackson and Mark Trumbo and were aided by Craig Breslow’s fielding error on Logan Morrison’s sacrifice bunt attempt.

Bradley Jr. doubled to center, De Aza scored, Swihart to third.

Wade Miley (9-9) went seven innings. David Peralta drove in three runs on two hits, including a fourth-inning homer off Mike Foltynewicz (4-4). For Cruz, it was his 35th of the season, which leads the American League. Bradley Jr. did all of his damage batting ninth.

Jacoby Ellsbury’s RBI single off Aaron Loup in the ninth gave the Yankees a three-run cushion.

“He’s always done a great job wherever he’s been, but it does affect you a little bit, of looking at perspective of the people you deal with every day and your guys in here, you know, real-life stuff”. Now, just a couple weeks later, many are of the mindset that the Red Sox should trot out an outfield trio of Bradley, Mookie Betts and Rusney Castillo while moving Hanley Ramirez, one of the worst defensive outfielders in recent memory, to first base.
