Manager Garde ‘very concerned’ about Villa’s situation
As Norwich broke away from a spell of sustained Villa pressure, the defensive weaknesses in Garde’s team were exposed again with three minutes left of normal time as Wes Hoolahan’s cross from the left found Mbokani unmarked to head home Norwich’s second, at which point Villa’s discipline deserted them.

Renowned supporter and former striker Stan Collymore took to Twitter to express his anger at how the club is being run, and firmly pointed the blame at the board and owner Randy Lerner.
“The confidence is a key point to playing good football, and you can see, especially, some situations that some of my players are not playing with confidence”.
Goals by Jonny Howson and Dieumerci Mbokani gave Norwich only a second win in seven matches to put a little daylight between themselves and the bottom three. We missed more passes and more opportunities up front.
If only they had shown that sort of spirit when the game – and Villa’s future – was still on the line. We are doing all right and I think we can do even better.
They started the season with a 1-0 success at AFC Bournemouth, but have been without a victory since – Saturday’s 1-1 home draw with West Ham extending their winless streak to 17 games. Since I came [to the club] we didn’t win, but I am working on that with my players in bad moments. I am of course very concerned about the situation.
Mbokani’s first name means “thank you God” and that was probably what the Norwich fans were saying as their team notched 20 points, halfway to safety at the midway point of the season.
Having scored five in nine before the Norwich game, Ayew went close for Villa, forcing Declan Rudd into a good save with a header, and it’ll be up to the likes of Rudy Gestede and Scott Sinclair to take on the goalscoring mantle in his absence.

Garde is looking to secure funds for January by offloading several fringe players, including frozen-out club captain Gabby Agbonlahor.
