Manchester City await Vincent Kompany news after comeback ends in late injury

“City skipper Vincent Kompany is receiving treatment for a groin injury sustained in Wednesday’s EFL Cup win over Swansea”, read a statement on the club’s official website.

Kompany’s absence hasn’t caused any problems so far, with Nicolás Otamendi, John Stones and Aleksandar Kolarov performing well, but Guardiola will want four top centre-backs in the long-term and may have to make a hard decision on City’s beloved club captain sooner rather than later.

Manchester United welcome Manchester City to Old Trafford on September 10, 2016 in a derby match that sees opposing managers Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola renew their sulphurous rivalry. I did it when I was 37 years old with the first team in Barcelona, and now I am older.

“I will be happy if I can play alongside him again this season”, Iheanacho said.

The injury is the 34th of the 30-year-old’s eight years at the club – 30 of which have occurred since 2012. Knowing maybe I am going to make a mistake but I have to do that. I don’t like to take those decisions.

“I have played against him (Aguero) a few times, not just in England, but in Spain when he was at Atletico Madrid, so I know him and what a top player he is”, Amat added.

Aguero, as with all the players in contention for today, has spent much of the week in south Wales, with City choosing to stay at Celtic Manor, the 2010 Ryder Cup venue near Newport, between the two Swansea games. It made me realise that I’d love to work with him.

Pep Guardiola reckons Swansea City will try and shut out Manchester City after predicting Francesco Guidolin will go with five at the back for their Premier League clash.

The 45-year-old believes he has got better at making these hard decisions over time, although it appears keeping Toure out of his matchday squads will have been one of his easiest calls given his views on players’ agents or family members creating problems for the club.

“(Garcia) played good, and I want to congratulate the young players tonight.

That match concluded Aguero’s domestic absence following retrospective punishment from the Football Association for striking Winston Reid with his elbow in August’s 3-1 win over West Ham.

Sunderland will visit Southampton in the remaining all-Premier League tie.

It was far less straightforward for United, who were pegged back and frustrated by third tier Northampton before goals from Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford wrapped up the win. Little things are going against us, we are missing chances.
