Aguero added his second of the game, and 11th of the season, from the penalty spot after Mike van der Hoorn was penalised for an arm across the face of Kevin De Bruyne, and Raheem Sterling completed the scoring.

“We arrived many, many times with [Kevin] De Bruyne, [David] Silva and [Ilkay] Gundogan but it was awesome that we were in that situation so often but didn’t make the final pass, but then we got the penalty and then a third goal so we were able to win”.

Speaking to the media after the game, City boss Pep Guardiola admitted that he was not immediately sure how serious the injury was but did concede that losing the 25-year-old, given his current contribution to the team, was definitely a set back.

“He can play better, he can make other things that are going to help us”.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is looking forward to seeing just where his team are at when they visit Tottenham in their next Premier League outing.

The news, it’s fair to say, caused plenty of concern among the club’s supporters – many of whom have appreciated De Bruyne’s magnificent start to the season – summed up by the stat below.

“The way he reacted, it looked like muscular, but I am not a doctor, fortunately”.

“I’m so happy for this important victory because now we have two games before the [international] break”.

“We will have to wait and see when we get back to Manchester, He will be going in to see the doctor on Sunday”.

Speculation continues to rage about Guidolin’s future, but he straight-batted post-match questions.

“But they have good players and the goal they scored was very good”, the Spaniard added. I do not feel under pressure.

“Swansea really played well and if there was a team that could have beaten Manchester City, it was Swansea”, said Gullit.

On the penalty, awarded by referee Neil Swarbrick at a crucial time of the game, Guidolin said: “I am not one to judge the referee”.
