Manchester City complete club record deal for Kevin De Bruyne

De Bruyne could make his debut against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on September 12, after representing his country in Euro 2016 qualifiers against Bosnia and Cyprus.

However, it is City that secured his switch after the Belgium worldwide underwent his medical on Saturday and signed a six-year contract that will keep him at the Emirates until 2021.

The 33-cap Belgium global struggled to secure regular football at Stamford Bridge, however, and moved to Wolfsburg with Chelsea’s manager Jose Mourinho saying he had been “an upset kid, training very bad and not ready to compete”.

Having cost £18m past year, Wolfsburg will generate nearly £30m profit in the sale of De Bruyne, with City looking to have beaten Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich to his signature after the Bavarian club expressed an interest in a move next summer.

De Bruyne was spotted leaving the Chinese restaurant, which is popular amongst players of both City and Manchester United, with girlfriend Michele Lacroix.

City have made a blistering start in the Premier League, winning their first three games in impressive fashion to quickly establish themselves as title favourites.

Kevin De Bruyne is back in the Premier League after Manchester City paid the highest-ever transfer fee for a Belgian player. “He has all of the mental, physical, tactical and technical attributes required to fit straight in”, Pellegrini said about De Bruyne as reported by the club’s official site.

De Bruyne becomes the fourth big name transfer for City this transfer window with their signing of Raheem Sterling, Nicolas Otamendi and Fabian Delph.

Wolfsburg’s sporting director Klaus Allofs confirmed on Friday that a deal was done and was set to be completed over the weekend.

De Bruyne was named Germany’s Footballer of the Year after he broke the Bundesliga’s record for assists in a single season with 20, in 2014-15. “All the stuff stays in your head and it’s not that easy to be at 100 per cent and to play at a good level”.

It was then suggested that Pellegrini might at least know that De Bruyne was in Manchester, but again he refused to answer.
